I’m on a short business trip to Barcelona. Opposite my hotel is this building, which according to the sign, is a government building belonging to Social Security:
In the few minutes I spent walking past it, I saw mainly elderly men and women entering and exiting the building. Nothing special about that. But then I noticed this small booth right at the entrance to the building. Upon a close inspection, it is a National Lottery stand:
How sad, and yet not surprising. After all, it is a well known fact that vast majority of people who fill out the lottery regularly are the needy and the elderly, those who actually should refrain from throwing their money to the wind.
Oh well. At least there is full disclosure. The ad on the stand says “Illusion” in big letters…
