I’ll Say it Again (cont.)

I’m back in Tokyo, a couple of months after my previous visit.

I had coffee this morning with a friend, at an outdoor cafe. Next to us was sat a lady working on her laptop:

The lady then got up to go to the bathroom. She was gone for a few minutes. She left her laptop, her mobile phone and her bag at the table:

She didn’t appear to think twice about it, as if she knew her things would be there when she came back.

I’m not saying there is no theft crime in Japan. What I’m saying is that it is so low that people are willing to take these risks without thinking too much about it. Where else?
